The controller IS420UCSCH1B is another version of the UCSC controller, which has four cores and runs on the 1.2 GHz AMD G series. This controller is designed by General Electric and is used in the Mark VIe series. This controller is the main controller mentioned in the GEH-6855 Volume II manual and is described as a real-time management program controller with the QNX Neutrino multitasking operating system. The QNX operating system is used for highly reliable high-speed industrial applications. Another technology used on this controller is Embedded Field Agent (EMA) technology, which helps to apply Predix cloud based applications and potential web applications through stable connectivity, all of which work together to deliver real-time data to the connectivity controller.
Compared to other controllers in the Mark VIe series where all bs and outputs pass through a backplane, the IS420UCSCH1B controller does not use a backplane and does not host any I/O applications. The software and hardware architecture used with this controller will ensure that if the controller must be shut down for repair or maintenance, no single application b points will be lost.
The IS420UCSCH1B controller has multiple different ports for Ethernet interfaces, with three ports being used for different redundant applications. When used for TMR redundant applications, all three ports will be used, while in dual redundant applications, only the S/SL2 and R/SL1 ports will be used. The RJ45 connector and 10Base TX/100Vase TX twisted pair can be used with ports in any redundant application.

It is part of the Mark VIe series used in GE distributed control systems. It is a version of the quad core controller used in conjunction with the QNX Neutrino operating system. This component supports TMR, simplex, and dual redundancy. The QNX operating system is used for high-speed and highly reliable industrial applications. Another technology used on this controller is Embedded Field Agent (EMA) technology, which allows Predix cloud based applications and potential web applications to be applied through stable connections, thereby transmitting real-time data to the connected controller.
IS420UCSCH1B Features
This controller is equipped with 4 GB DDR3-1333 SDRAM, which is a type of memory used for high-speed data storage in computers and other digital devices. This controller has 5 Ethernet ports that can be connected to other devices and networks for data transmission and communication. This controller uses ControlST as its Human Machine Interface (HMI), which is a software application used to interact with and control devices.
The Mark VIe quad core controller uses real-time management program technology and QNX Neutrino, a real-time multitasking operating system (OS), to run high-speed and highly reliable industrial applications. PredixTM cloud based applications and/or locally hosted web applications are applied through secure connections and deliver real-time data using bded on-site agent (EFA) technology.
Preloaded with a software package specifically designed for the use of UCSCH1x controllers. It utilizes the IONet interface as a turbine or power plant balance (BoP) controller and runs Mark VIe firmware and applications. IONet only supports Mark control I/O packets and controllers, and is a private dedicated Ethernet. To synchronize the clock of the I/O module and controller to within 100 microseconds, the IEEE 1588 protocol is used through the IONet interface.
External data can be transmitted between the controller's control system databases through INet connections. For I/O modules, this also refers to process bs and outputs. Compared to traditional controllers that host application I/O on the backplane, UCSC controllers lack any application I/O.
operation
The operation of the system involves several key aspects, including the installation of the ToolboxST application, the configuration of UDH network communication, and the IP address required to establish communication with the on-site HMI. The following are extension instructions for these operations:
ToolboxST application installation: To facilitate configuration and management tasks, ToolboxST applications are typically installed on at least 4 GB unencrypted flash drives. This flash drive is used as the storage medium for applications, containing necessary files and settings. The ToolboxST application provides a user-friendly interface for configuring various aspects of the system, including network communication.

UDH network configuration: The UDH (User Data Header) network is used for communication within the system. During the configuration process, the ToolboxST application is used to define the communication beters of the UDH network. This involves setting network addresses, ports, protocols, and other related settings. This configuration ensures that the control module can establish reliable and secure communication with other devices and systems within the network.
Default IP Address: By default, the IP address assigned by the control module is 192.168.10.11.111. This IP address is used as the initial configuration for the module's network connection. However, it is important to note that this default IP address may need to be modified to match the specific requirements and settings of the site or network where the system is deployed.
Configure relevant UDH IP addresses: In order for the control module to communicate effectively with the on-site HMI (human-machine interface), it is necessary to configure the relevant UDH IP addresses. This IP address is specific to the UDH network and enables seamless communication between the control module and the on-site HMI. Through the ToolboxST application, the IP address of the control module can be customized and set to an appropriate value consistent with the network configuration and addressing scheme of the site.
virtual network
The virtual network function in the controller is a powerful feature provided by the virtual machine management program, which can achieve seamless communication and data exchange between virtual machines (VMs) running on the same physical machine or multiple physical machines in the network. The function of virtual networks is similar to traditional Ethernet, promoting data transmission between virtual machines, just like physical Ethernet promotes data transmission between physical machines.
Virtual networks play a crucial role in connecting different components of the system and achieving efficient data transmission. Specifically, it facilitates data exchange between Embedded Field Agents (EFA) and Mark VIe controls, both running as separate VMs on the UCSCH1 controller.
The following is how virtual networks achieve data communication between EFA and Mark VIe controls:
